Thoughts on Our Adventures in Paradise
We would like to start off by introducing ourselves: my name is Theresa and my husband is Mark. We first learned about Hedonism from a brochure at a travel agency. After reading the brochure, Mark felt that this would be the ideal place for our next vacation. I, on the other hand, was not exactly thrilled with the idea. So in the meantime, Mark being his usual resourceful self, decided to do some investigating; all in the hope of convincing me that this was the place to vacation. He found a travel bulletin board dedicated to Hedo, Contraband's and DennyP's web pages, and proceeded to bombard me with all the info he could find. Needless to say, after many months of Hedo info overload, I finally relented and agreed to give it a try.
After posting our scheduled trip on Denny P's page, we received numerous e-mails from other couples that would be there at the same time. These communications helped to alleviate some concerns that everyone had, especially trying out the nude beach for the first time.
Finally Jan 31st has arrived and we find ourselves at MoBay airport. No problems finding the Hedo counter, everyone is very helpful. Met Parker and Shelly, then it's just a short walk to the bus. I know that we have seen references to the "bus ride from hell" on the bulletin board; but, as for our trip, it really wasn't that bad, even dozed off for a while.
After only a few minutes at the front desk, we head for our room. The trees and flowers along the way are really beautiful and look to be well cared for. There is a feeling of serenity amid all the sunshine and lush vegetation.
It's hard to remember what happened on which days, but two that do stand out are the PJ party and toga night. Had a whale of a good time both nights. Although we arrived early for the PJ party and didn't get to be in the parade on the video tape they made (everyone was surely on Jamaican time but us LOL), it was great fun.
The activities coordinators were really fantastic people, especially Terri, Mark and Robyn. They put a lot of time and effort into getting the guests involved in the activities and helping to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable time. All of them were very pleasant and helpful everytime we bumped into them. It never failed to put a smile on our faces whenever they were in the vicinity.
We spent everyday just relaxing in the sun by the pool, chatting with our new friends. Although there were a few gawkers, most everyone was very friendly and made us feel right at home. They actually made you feel more uncomfortable if you walked around with clothing on. Late night after dinner was spent in the hot tub, also relaxing and chatting with our friends. We did notice a fair amount of sexual activity in and around the hot tub, and on one occasion the couple was applauded for their finale; but on most nights the guards kept it to a minimum. The size of the hot tub was a nice surprise, it must be one of a kind.
Mealtimes were usually an adventure into the unknown. There were always a few dishes that were not to our liking, but we could always find enough that were to satisfy our appetite. Although I don't think it could be considered fine dining, it was well prepared and presented, and was very satisfying.
All in all we felt that it was a wonderful place, and we had a fantastic time. I think it was our most memorable vacation by far. The atmosphere was indescribable, Mark describes it as beyond your wildest imagination, you have to experience it to understand it. Even though this was our first trip to Hedo, it definitely won't be the last. Mark often refers to Hedo as the Land of Oz, a place of many pleasant memories that you want to visit again and again.
We feel one of the things that made this trip so memorable for us was the opportunity it gave us to meet Dave and Donna, Parker and Shelly, Dan and Deanna, and Roger. We all shared some new experiences and had a blast doing it. Hopefully we have become good friends, friends for life, I know that they are to us. Mark and I are planning a return trip next February, and are hoping that they can all join us again.
The only thing we found that was in any way unpleasant about Hedo, was having to leave and come back to the reality of everyday life. It took us almost a full week to become fully functional again.
If anyone who is considering their first trip to Hedo has any doubts or questions, please feel free to e-mail us at QQn4xanadu@aol.com. Lookin' for Xanadu, we feel that we have finally found our paradise, and some very nice, new friends to share it with.
